Brick Tinting for Brick Matching, Correction, or Renovation?

What is Brick tinting?
Brick Tinting is often also called Brick Staining or Brick Dying, all the same thing.

It is a liquid application that can be applied to brick, stone, and mortar to permanently change the its colour.  It is a permanent solution that does not interfere with the technical specification and capabilities of the brickwork, still allowing it to behave as normal.

In the hands of our skilled brickwork technicians, brick tinting enables the precise matching of any brick, stone, concrete, or mortar.  We can create multi colours and even matched aged and weathered brickwork.

Brick Tinting has been used within the construction industry for over 40yrs, principally used to colour match brickwork on new build brickwork.  In more recent years as bricks have become harder to match it is now commonly used to provide the perfect brick match.

How long does it last?
The process is permanent and guaranteed for the life of the brick.

It will only 'weather' as normal alongside your original adjoining brickwork, no difference between the treated and original brickwork will ever occur.

Can you match any brick type?
Yes, we can make any type of brick match any other brick type perfectly.
Do you cover my area?
If you live in the UK or Ireland then yes. Our teams of Brickwork Technicians are located all over the UK and one will be local to you.

how much does it cost?
It is not possible to give a a per square meter cost as there are so many factors involved and different brick types.

You can get a precise quotation for you project within 24hrs though just by sending us some images of the brickwork that you want matching, together with an approximate square meterage and your location.

how do i get a quotation?

All we normally need is :

  • Images of your brickwork.
  • An Approximate square meterage of brickwork to tint.
  • Your location. 

With that info we can normally provide you with a precise quotation straight away. If we do need any more info or to arrange a site visit we will come straight back to you.

can you tint mortar too?
Yes, in exactly the same way as we can change the colour of any brick type we can also change the colour of the mortar.

Even if your brick matches perfectly, if your mortar doesn't then you will not have perfectly matched brickwork. By matching the mortar as well as the brick (if needed) we will give you the perfect brickwork match.

can you tint darker bricks lighter?
Yes, we can change any brick colour to any other brick colour, be that light bricks going darker, or the other way round.

Is it gUAranteed? 
Yes, all our work comes with a lifetime guarantee, guaranteed for the life of the brick and/or building.  It will simply 'weather' as normal alongside and inline with your original adjoining brickwork, no difference between the two will ever occur. It will always remain matched.

Is it paint?
No. You should never paint bricks. 

Paint sits on the face of the brick, is very monotone in colour, and requires long term maintenance.  It can also interfere with the technical specification of your brickwork, which is a big non no.

Our solution is a dye,. We dye the actual clay of the brick itself, penetrating deep into the brick and making the process permanent.  

​As well as enabling the creation of bespoke natural looking colours this also ensures that our process does not interfere in anyway with the technical specification of the brick.

can you repair and clean my brickwork too?

DIY? Can i do it myself?
Yes, you can buy a range of base colour tints from our sister company Remedial Works here.

However, whilst these are great if you want to simply change the colour and look of brickwork (such as this customer did), matching brickwork is much harder and we recommend that you use one of our skilled and experienced brickwork technicians as it is what you do with our range of colour tints and dyes that makes the difference.

There is not substitute for skill and experience!
